Who would have known that six and a half years ago I would move to a place that I have grown to love just as much as my home town?? And I love it for very different reasons.? I?m originally from Portland, Oregon and yes I LOVE it there!? The weather is perfect (say what you will about the rain, it makes it green!), you can go to the mountains or the beach just for the day, you can enjoy the exciting downtown life or a drive in the country at any time and the skyline is engrained in my memory forever.? But non of those reasons compare to why I love Boise.
Six and a half years ago my husband and I decided we needed a change.? So we packed everything we owned and moved to Boise and moved in with my parents.? We had no jobs and no prospects.? I would say it was the smartest decision we have ever made!? I will forever say that moving to Boise saved my marriage!? We were not doing great when we made this move, and within the first year of living here it almost came to an end.? But God did a huge miracle and we were brought closer than we ever had been before!? We were forced to rely on God and each other since that?s all we had.? If we would have stayed in our comfort zone, surrounded by friends and family, we may not have taken that same route.
Other reasons why I love Boise are because both of our sons were born here and all of our children were conceived here ? I?m determined to find Elise a ?Made in Idaho? onsie ? I have been through so much emotional and physical healing while living here ? my life has changed!? I am not the same person I was 6 years ago.? If you knew me then, you don? t know me now.? I have found out so much about myself and what God wants from me.? By no means do I have it all figured out ? NO WAY.? But I have made huge strides in the right direction.? God provided extended family for us here that we never expected to have.
We have also become huge Boise State football fans!? And we never even watched football on a regular basis before that.? I have loved living in a college town!? So much support and community involved with it all.? Boise loves it?s football team in the ups and downs and it?s so inspiring.? Hopefully next year when they join the Big East we might get a few games.
Another cool thing that I realized about Boise when we moved here is that so many people have moved here because they have felt God call them here.? He is doing amazing things in this city and will continue to do so.? In fact, I have a dear friend that will be moving here soon because she has felt God call her here!? It?s so amazing to see God?s mark on the community!
I know God is going to provide community and family in Wisconsin, but Boise will always be home.? It?s where our family became family!? Thank you to everyone who has accepted us and loved us over the years.? We will miss you all so very much, but know you will always be in our hearts!
